This discussion will be if a c5 can be a race/track car. I have owned a c4, and it has several limitations to make an all out race car, I currently own a c6--platform seems nice, but common sense says don't do that to such a new car. A c=5 seems in the middle--kinda ready for the task.
Engine/tranny/ and rerearend would be replaced. Can you guys give me some advice on what works best, how does this platform operate as a drag car.
I would love to here some suspension ideas. Any info will help.
I have narrowed the choice to a fox boby, a 4th gen, or a c5---i know the pro's and cons of each----I eould just love some insight!!!

Interesting that you discarded the C4 as a candidate. There is a vendor that makes a complete bolt in kit for a 9 inch rear in a C4.
the c5 is a well balanced body, personally i hate seeing vettes as a drag car, they were made to race on a G track, but i know Lingenfelter makes some amazing kits for drag cars and suspension. Go big or go home
I guess it all depends on how fast you want to go. Companies like RPM have made our rear ends and trannys in our cars much better but the best thing for a corvette drag racer is to get rid of the independent rear and have it back halved.
You could also stay IRS (so you can enter all stock suspension classes) and install the ECS powerglide conversion kit, which is alot cheaper than the solid axle conversion. I have that setup and very happy with it.

I've turned mine into a drag car...the reason why most people don't buy C5's for drag cars is because the parts are nearly twice the price of any Mustang.

C5 drag monster = Lots of Dolla Bill$
That is so true. I also doubt you could get a vette as light as a fox body mustang. Corvettes do make sweet looking drag cars.
