Default Flush Brake Fluid..

I need to flush my brake fluid and I would like to replace it with Willwood 570. I have been told that it is not compatible with the DOT 3 fluid, so the DOT 3 needs to be flushed out. I cannot get the search function on the forum to work properly, so can someone please let me know if there is a specific procedure to flush the brake system, or pass on a forum link to the right information.

Thanks
g

I have just always bled the sytem the old fashion way. Then add a little of the new stuff to make sure all the old stuff is flushed out.

Speedbleeders

It becomes a one man job and you can see the fluid running through the clear tube and I V like bag until it's completely the color of your new fluid and has zero bubbles. Downside is- have plenty of new brake fluid and keep the reservoir full.

How do you get the old dot 3 out of the ABS system?

There should not be any compatibility issue. Willwood 570 is a dot 3 from what I can find, so no issue.

The only thing is that the new fluid will help the most at the caliper, same as any fresh fluid. So, just bleed a lot. If you really want to make sure you got all the old stuff out, after you flush, go out and do several stops that engage the ABS, then reflush. But, unless you autox or track on a road race course, it is more than likely over kill.

Find a place where you can drive on grass without anyone getting mad at you. Get up to 25 mph and step on the brake pedal real hard. The wheels will lock and the tires will skid on the low friction grass putting the ABS system in operation. Repeat about half a dozen times.
