Anyone ever experience any rumble/vibration felt through the shifter and all of the controls at idle? It is an occasional noise, Id say 1 out of 5 stops. It goes away as soon as I accelerate or put it into neutral.
Is this a new issue or has it done it for a while? What about off idle, like when you just lift your foot off the brake without touching the throttle?
Loose exhaust system or contact from exhaust pipe to something else can cause this.
It has been an ongoing thing that has seemed to get worse over time. Im not a 100% sure now that I think about it if when a release the brake it stops, but I want to say it does stop.
I have already gone over the exhaust system and do not think it is propagating from there.

Tim,
I have a hard time believing it would be the propshaft coupling due to the randomness that you pointed out in your first posting. If it were the coupling I would expect the vibration rumble all the time and you should still feel it under a light acceleration. The “just at idle” makes me think you still have something with the exhaust system as the randomness and only at idle are classic for exhaust noises. Do you have someone that can put the car on a lift and run it there to allow someone to check?

You think this even though when put into neutral it stops? It is only at idle when in gear. I have had on a lift but couldnt get it to make the noise in the past.

When you had it on the lift was it a two post or four post lift? If it was a two post the suspension of the car will be fully extended. This is a clue. If you can't get the noise/vibration with it on the lift then maybe with the suspension system fully down there is clearance from what is ever hitting something. Again, my suspicion would be something exhaust related.
not sure how it works on an auto, but my 6 speed when i let the clutch out in neutral I can feel the driveshaft rotating. I just replaced the couplers last year, and went with one rubber and the other a LG motorsport aluminum coupler. My torque tube failed when the old coupler blew out on the highway and seized the driveshaft to the inside of the tube!
The drive shaft inside the torque tube on automatic transmissions is always spinning at the same speed of the motor.
The automatics have their torque converters in the rear of the car, unlike the manual cars who have a clutch that is placed in the standard location (attached to the crank) at the rear of the motor.
That's why it's easier to tell torque tube problems in six-speeds than in automatics.
It could be your bearings or maybe some loose hardware in the exhaust or TT assembly.
