Increased Piston to Valve Clearance (13.5* Valve Angle)
- Allows you to run a larger camshaft with more PTV clearance than a stock head

Thick Deck (.600")
- Withstands higher cylinder pressures when using forced induction & nitrous

Extreme Dual Valve Springs
- Rated for .650" Lift
- 450# Open, 150# Closed

Stainless Intake & Exhaust Valves
- Withstands higher exhaust temperatures

6 Bolts Per Cylinder Option (Available on 235cc, Standard on 245cc & 265cc)
- Adds 2 more bolts per cylinder, which will withstand extreme cylinder pressures

During the development stage, Trick Flow engineers determined that the valve angles needed to change from 15* to 13.5*. This change decreased valve shrouding, increased mid-lift airflow, and increased rocker arm-to-valve cover clearance. Testing also proved that relocating the spark plug position in the combustion chamber further enhanced combustion along with mid lift airflow and improved the integrity of the casting in the chamber area. Trick Flow also added additional material to the decks (.600") and to the rocker arm mounting pads to improve high rpm valve train stability.

Flow Numbers

Roller Rocker Arms

Yella Terra Ultralite Shaft Mount Non-Adjustable Roller Rocker 1.7 Ratio (LS1/LS2) $450

The use of roller rocker arms is recommended with cylinder heads having bronze guides. Using roller rockers will reduce the wear on the guides thus reduce oil consumption down the road.

Stock rockers scrub the valve tip above .550" lift, the more you shim a stock rocker, the worse the scrub becomes. A stock rocker should work like a rocking chair to open the valve, which is not at all how a roller rocker works. A stock rocker will have a wide pattern, if you shim it up to reduce the width of the pattern, you will increase the scrub, and this scrub is the source of the friction that causes tip and guide wear. A roller rocker works just the opposite, as you shim it up it reduces the sweep pattern, since it rolls there is no scrub.

Pushrods

Comp Cams Chromemoly Pushrods Starting at $99.99
Available in .025" increments

Comp Cams Pushrod Length Checker $19.99

A .100” longer than stock pushrod is required with these heads.

Trickflow Heads make huge under the curve power over LS7 Heads
Cylinder Head Testing done by Trickflow

440ci LSX
Trickflow 235cc CNC Ported Cylinder Heads
- 235cc Intake Runner
- 2.080" Intake Valve
262/270 .629/.629 114LSA Camshaft
FAST Intake
10.8 Compression

vs.

Switch to GM LS7 270cc CNC Ported Cylinder Heads
- 270cc Intake Runner
- 2.200" Intake Valve
LS7 Intake
10.8 Compression

Next Test

Swap camshaft to 233/276 .629/.629 107LSA

Our Results

We went with the Trickflow 245cc 6 Bolt Cylinder Heads on our 454 LSX build w/106mm Turbo. They do an excellent job of keeping the extreme cylinder pressure under control. We made 1272 rwhp on low boost with this combination!

We went with the Trickflow 235cc Cylinder Heads on our 427 LS3 NA build. We made 603 rwhp with this combination. Naturally aspirated, pump gas, hydraulic roller!

Which of these heads would you suggest for a stock 02 Z that is looking for a good head/cam combo?

I have the 235s on my LS3. It makes more than enough power for any application I can think of except a dedicated drag car.
