Default 99 C5 where to start?

Hello,
New to the forum and finally got a vette - 99 C5 M6 coupe. Just got it home this weekend and the only mods are Y2K wheels and a G2 air intake (never heard of it).

For sure I want to swap out the shifter (probably MGW), but I'm not sure what I want to do from there :o

I've had 2 LS1 F-bodies in the past so I know the LS1 well. My last big project was a 2000 Formula that started out with basic bolt on's like lid, cat-back, LT's, 4.10 gears and had a lot of fun with only those mods running 13.10 @109 w/ stock suspension and drag radials. From there I did a cam swap and had some fun until I blew the motor. Went a little nuts after that and put in a Texas Speed forged 408 with all the goodies including an RPM Stage V 4L60E, Yank 4000 stall and Moser 9" etc. With no suspension tuning and full weight the car ran a tire spinning 11.51 @ 119. I regret ever selling it....but it was more of a pain in the butt than it was fun

So now I finally have a C5 and I don't want to go that crazy again....but still want improvement over stock performance. Power seems ok, but I definately need more. I just need to be able to take cross country road trips in with my wife and friends!

Since gears are probably out I was thinking headers and cat back. I searched for awhile but didn't come up with any concrete answers. Seems like OBX is taking off. I'm looking to not spend a fortune, but I want good fitment. LG? Kooks?

What about swapping to an LS6 intake on the 99? I know that made a difference on the 2000 F-body, how about the vette?

There are no local LSx tuners around here, so what's the best option for tuning? Anyone do good mail order tunes to get you in the ballpark? My Formula has a speed density tune from a guy I knew in IN (not driving down there for a tune).

Sorry so long.
Thanks,
Marc

LT's any of the name brands are good. I myself have Melrose Smooth flows. LS6 intake and finally I would suggest a vararam. With the listed above I could 12.5's easily at the track, with the aid if DR's. On really good track prep nights I managed a few 12.2's but 12.5 was the average. Please note that the factory clutch will not last long with the above mods and should be considered.

I would go with a cam/spring swap and dyno tune. Much better results than bolt on headers.
