Tell us your secrets!

Come on out and we'll talk.
Yes, I agree NASA is an excellent place to go fast, especially when orbiting the Earth ! Did you mean NASCAR ?
I've been building race engines for years. We would need a 30 pack and a couple of bottles of Jack with all of my stories of engine and car builds. However, I was just looking to see what you have done to get a decent level of HP. Now, with that said, we all have our own interpretation of what decent is. For me, I'm looking for an easy 425-450 at the rear wheels. This is a very easy task; even with the stock exhaust manifolds; although headers make it easier :0)
We all have our secret builds and special grind cams that we have Dave Crower grind for us, but once we tell them what to grind it at, you can bet your *** they will produce it again for someone else - Guaranteed! And there goes your secret….
As far as what cam to use, flow #’s for the heads (which you will need before you grind a cam), quench and rod length, I pretty much have that covered to make serious HP. I would like to know what you have used, to possibly make my job easier with my choices and you may have a cam profile that will work for me; not all mass produced cam grinds are bad :0)
I know I’m coming off like a newbie-know-nothing by this post, but that is far from the truth. I’m curious and this project will most likely come to fruition this winter.
Also, I might map my computer myself (not sure yet). However, I have never done this before, but I’m not afraid to give it a try, I’m familiar with the factory mapping and I should be able to adjust it correctly. I’m just not sure if I want to purchase the software for the one vehicle/build or just have someone else do it for me. Before that would happen, I would have to trust the persons mapping skills. If you have any info to help me out with that, I would appreciate it.
BTW – I live in South Jersey, so any tuners in that area let me know…
Thanks guys and keep the posts coming.

Seriously though, what do you intend to do with your Vette? If it's going to be an autocross or track car, mods will differ greatly from a drag car., particularly in suspension and brake systems. Will you be wanting power in low-to-mid-range or in a narrow band at high RPMs? Someone said do schools like Spring Mtn or bBndurant. We've done both and more. They help a lot, but after those, you need a lot of seat time to be able to out-drive the potential of a stock C5 or C6 (especially Z06s). So, before spending a lot of money, know your goal and know how much time you are willing to spend on yourself in the seat to achieve the goal. OK, done preaching..... On the other hand, a great cam sure sounds terrific at the drive in or wherever on the weekend.

Some of you have advised me to first have a game plan on what I'm going to do with the car. How true. I've been preaching this to all of my clients over the years. Without that, you do not have a goal...
I'm looking to build a quick car; somewhere in the 10:50 - 11:00 sec 1/4 mile. So straight line performance is where I'm heading. I feel this is a reasonable elapsed time for a street car that is still a pleasure to drive without overheating, and still getting reasonable fuel mileage (15-20mpg).
With that said, maybe this will help out with the modifications needed to obtain my true north.
Maybe I should have explained this in the beginning :0)

you will never realize the the full potential of those mods without the Throttle Body Bypass..
