I own a 99 C5, and I'm looking to add some more power to it this coming winter. I would like to know what you have done to your LS1 to make it run. I'm not looking for you super secret tricks; I have a few myself. But I'd like to know what you have done and what mods worked the best.
BTW - you can e-mail me if you do not want to post your mods - weiand671@comcast.net.
Also, If you are around Mount Laurel NJ, maybe we can meet up at ATCO

The best thing about the LSX engine platform is the unbelievable amount of information available on the interenet with regards, to performance, combinations, etc. Enjoy.
Mods like Spring Mountain and Bondurant, practice heel-toe at your desk during lunch. Read every book by Ross Bentley (Speed Secrets), get a GOOD set of brake pads, ditch the run flats, learn what you can and can't do with your HP level. Learn trail-braking, learn deep braking, etc. Makes what you do have feel that much faster. Get a good seat for yourself (if you have a FRC or a Z set of seats) so you can be wrapped in it like a glove. Makes for a better seating position. I also lost a few pounds; good for me and less to haul around
Going fast in a straight line is one thing....walking away in a turn from a C6Z or 911 in a stock C5 coupe, priceless
Some of you guys are cracking me up! I love ball breaking.
I've been building race engines for years. We would need a 30 pack and a couple of bottles of Jack with all of my stories of engine and car builds. However, I was just looking to see what you have done to get a decent level of HP. Now, with that said, we all have our own interpretation of what decent is. For me, I'm looking for an easy 425-450 at the rear wheels. This is a very easy task; even with the stock exhaust manifolds; although headers make it easier :0)
We all have our secret builds and special grind cams that we have Dave Crower grind for us, but once we tell them what to grind it at, you can bet your *** they will produce it again for someone else - Guaranteed! And there goes your secret….
As far as what cam to use, flow #’s for the heads (which you will need before you grind a cam), quench and rod length, I pretty much have that covered to make serious HP. I would like to know what you have used, to possibly make my job easier with my choices and you may have a cam profile that will work for me; not all mass produced cam grinds are bad :0)
I know I’m coming off like a newbie-know-nothing by this post, but that is far from the truth. I’m curious and this project will most likely come to fruition this winter.
Also, I might map my computer myself (not sure yet). However, I have never done this before, but I’m not afraid to give it a try, I’m familiar with the factory mapping and I should be able to adjust it correctly. I’m just not sure if I want to purchase the software for the one vehicle/build or just have someone else do it for me. Before that would happen, I would have to trust the persons mapping skills. If you have any info to help me out with that, I would appreciate it.
BTW – I live in South Jersey, so any tuners in that area let me know…
