Important tip: Keep your hood hinges (and latches), door hinges (and latches) and headlight door hinges lubed. Serial.
I couldn’t agree more. Most people ignore the hinges mentioned.
The hood and headlight hinges can bind and be at the very least a nuisance, and at worst require expensive replacement (headlight assembly).
Door hinges support the weight of the door and will wear quickly causing the door to “drop”.
Here’s a test for you – With the door open about one foot from the rear fender, grab that sucker at the open end and lift up. If you feel any play (free up & down movement) then your hinges are already worn to some degree. Some of you will be very surprised at how much wear you have.
A well maintained hinge would have no play at all, or very, very little noticeable up & down movement in the case of a high mileage car.
