Default Knock sensor replacement questions

I will soon begin replacing my knock sensors and have a few questions for those that have replaced theirs. I have the service manual and the TSB regarding building a dam of RTV around the sensor.

1. I have a new wiring harness that includes the rubber plugs that seal the sensors to the valley cover. The manual doesn't mention anything about adding a coating of RTV to the rubber plugs to insure a good seal. Is this a good idea?

2. The TSB mentions building a RTV dam around the rear knock sensor rubber plug only. It recommends not making a complete circle of RTV around the plug. It says to leave ~20* arc off at the rear of the dam. It also doesn't mention anything about building a dam of RTV around the front knock sensor rubber plug. I have have seen pictures on the forum showing 360* RTV dams around the front and rear knock sensor rubber plugs. What would you recommend? The partial dam on just the rear as the TSB recommends or the complete 360* dams on both front and rear sensors?

Its as simple as gooping enough RTV on and around the rubber plug to keep water out of the sensor wells. Nothing trick about it. Just goop it on the sealing surface and around the rubber plug and where the wire goes through the plug.

Once the plug is sealed with RTV, it will keep water and moisture out.
