you need to get any air out that may be trapped...yes. I think the drain and fill procedure is in the sticky thread up top if you do not have it

There is no bleeder screw. Here is the Service Manual procedure:
Draining and Filling Cooling System

Tools Required
J 26568 Coolant and Battery Tester
<A href="http://127.0.0.1:9001/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1212094&evc=sm&pubid =319&cellId=37226&mspsdsubkey=2237#ss1-1212094">Draining Procedure

Caution

To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.

Since DeIonized water can be quite corrosive (if you get the real thing) you can use clean drinkable tap water as the owners manual indicates.

Yes you do. Here's an easy way to do it.

I always just leave the expansion tank cap loose, after filling, (about 1/4 turn) and go for a short warm-up ride. Let it cool and, if needed, add coolant to the "full cold" mark. Afterwords, put the cap back on tightly.

Not true Bill.

Deionized water has it's minerals and electrolytes removed from it.
It is not corrosive at all. In fact, you can drink it!

D/I water is the next best thing to distilled water, and perfectly safe to mix with coolant.
