I’m guessing that you looked in the normal location in the car? In a coupe/vert the wheel lock key sits in a small depression in the trunk rail directly under the left rear compartment cover.

Default Can buy

When I first got my 01 used in 01, it was missing the lock. I sent my vin to a company and actually bought 2 of them for about $30 each.

But I would have to agree with the above post - that with stock wheels - nobody is going to steal them off the car - so I would get all 4 locking lug nuts taken off at once and replaced with standard ones for very little money and never have the problem again.

Sears sells a Locking Lug Nut Remover Kit. It works really good. Looks like this. Kinda Scary how fast those LOCKING lug nutz come off!

When I purchased my 01 a few years ago i had the same exact problem. I asked the dealership and they said they would charge by the hour with 1 hour minimum (like $80 +). I also called 3 local tire shops and none would help me. So i went to my tool box and picked up a handful of metric and standard sockets and I tried them until I found one that would just barely slide over the locking nut. I taped it a couple times with a hammer and the lug nut came off on the first try. I took all 4 off in 10 minutes tops!

I agree.

BUT, without a key, there are two choices that we have used at our church on donated vehicles with locking lugs and NO key.

1) Sold in hardware stores, a big socket with many spring loaded rods. It is marketed as "One Socket Fits All". Make sure one of the rods gets into one of the grooves of the key.

2) Select a tight fitting "Impact" socket. Hammer the impact socket over the locking lug. After removal, hammer out the lug from the socket. Impact sockets are thick hardened steel. They will not break or deform under such abuse. Not so with a normal chrome socket. It will easily break.

In either case, don't use an air impact wrench. use a socket wrench with a breaking bar, and apply force slowly.
