I drilled a hole next to the back of the driver's seat and sealed it with RTV. Be careful not to drill into the gas tank cross over tube. The correct way to do it is run the wires above the tunnel plate but that's a lot more work.

My installer mentioned using an existing grommet to enter. I am not sure where so I am not much help.

You definitely need to keep it away from as much heat as possible.
