I have been having trouble with my fuel cutoff. I ordered the CLB, but in case that dosent work I understand that I can straighten it out with the HP tuners program.
After I adjust the speed for the fuel cutoff what else can I do with this to make the car perform better. I am old school and can get a big block to run 10's but this is a whole new ballgame with computers. And don't tell me to just bring it to a tuner because I don't trust people with my cars. I don't want to spend 500 to just clear up the fuel cutoff.
And I have read about credits when you buy the program. What are they.

I have hp tuners but it's probably not worth the $$$ to get rid of the 2.5mph fuel kill. When Hp tuners added the option something else also appeared "fitted or not fitted" with electric column lock. Unfortunately changing it to "not fitted" doesn't do anything. You will still get the error messages on the DIC if the CL malfunctions, however, your car won't shut off because of it. You definitely want the "dummy plate" installed if you disable the fuel kill.

It probably is worth the money if it solves the problem.
- You can litterally change anything on the engine parameters, so much so that you could blow your engine! (timing, rev limiter, disable DIC codes such as read o2's, C.A.G.S disable, etc) The parameters to change all depend on modifications to your car. If you're looking to tune your car on your own it's going to take a lot of time, patience, reading, and a seperate wide band o2 sensor (probably more than that).
The credit system is vague to me because I bought hp tuners before they used the credit system. The way I understand it: for LS1 engines you will get enough credits upon purchase to use it on two LS1 vehicles or variants from model years 1997-2004. The LS2 and above require more credits.

But if I buy the program, it's mine I paid 500+ for it I should be allowed to use it all I want. So what happens after I use it on those 2 cars.
I don't know much about tuning but I like having the freedom to change whatever I want on my car like rpm limiter, DIC codes, etc.
One of the key pros to having it is you can download and backup your custom tune, this way if you take it to the dealer and they reflash your computer you can either change it back to your previous tune or update the new one. I have needed it for this twice because of CL recalls over the past 6 years.
I would do some reseach between hp tuners and EFIlive. Some people like EFI live better although I don't think it has the CL option you're looking for.

It's forever locked to those two cars, if you want to use it on other vehicles after that you will have to purchase more credits. I don't like the credit system either- I think it's pretty much crap. I've often thought about paying the ~$1500 to use it on unlimited LS1's and earning the money back by changing the simple things on peoples cars like C.A.G.S., rev limiter, rear o2 delete, etc.
EFI live, LS1 edit, are the only other two I know of. LS1 edit has really dropped off the radar the past few years, EFI live and hp Tuners are the most popular.
I have EFI Live and really like it. There are various versions of EFI LIVE. Version V1, Version V2, & Road Runner,,,
V1 does GM vehicles up to 2004. V2 will do up to GM present. Then there are different licenses. Scan, Scan and tune, Personal, Commercial and Professional
Best thing to do is visit the EFI Live website. Its pretty good. You can even down load a EFI Live sample program and it will give you an idea of how it looks on your computer.
Just having EFI Live or HP Tuners will do you ZERO good until you learn how to initial it, set it up and figure out what all the graphs, charts and settings do, Its mind boggling yet addictive.
Some things you can change by .1, 10 or 50 and you will see a difference, while other things changed by .001 and there will be MAJOR differences! Its that simple to make your car un-driveable. The good thing is that most of the time you can just reload the last good tune and your back to square one.
One of the bad things is, if you mess up and run the engine too lean,,you blow holes in pistons.
I have the V1 efi live and yes you can disable the fuel cutoff. I did it on mine. As far as what is the better program I like EFI Live much better than HP tuner. To me it seems EFI Live is alot better to navigate around to all the tables and it explaines really well what each table is for. I have the HP tuner on my desktop just to play around with it but I don't like it at all. Download both softwares and check them out for yourself. EFI Live gets my vote for sure.
