Default 85MM MAF Upgrade Complete

I was concerned about things Fitting but it all went fine.. I never got all the answers I needed but got them on my own after the install..

So..

The new MAF is simply a slip fit into the 2001 + Airbridge. There is no rubber gasket at the end of the bridge like the 97-00... Just slip it in there and tighten the clamp.

It mates up with the Vararam plenum but the 85mm does not go INSIDE the Plenum it is the same size and just uses a coupler to connect them..

I made my coupler by cutting off a 2" wide piece from a Silicone Throttle body coupler I had.. I just left the Stock Accordian on the new Airbridge..

I cannot believe I will see an HP loss with the accordian..

New harness to connect the 3 wire to the 5 wire and also use the built in IAT sensor..

Already have the tables in my PCM file updated to the Screenless MAF from a 2002 Z06.. I plan to flash it tonight with HPtuners..

Viola.. Clean upgrade...

Not expecting any gains...but if I do any mods I wont have a MAF limiting me..

The real reason I did it was it was cheaper..

My 2000 MAF died.. The replacement MAF smaller MAF was over $100 NEW or like $50 to 75 Used.. seems the 85mm ones are cheaper and easier to get..

The 85mm MAF I purchased Brand New on Ebay for $44 Shipped.. $25 for the Harness and I got the Airbridge free..(Thanks to another Forum Member)

The new MAF is also 85mm in diameter whereas the old one is 75mm in diameter. If he should do some engine mods later that will result in significantly more air being sucked in, this larger MAF will inhibit that suction less than if he was using the 75mm MAF. The other upgrade to make would be a larger TB, such as a 90mm LS2 TB.

This is only worthwhile when really increasing the horsepower (forced induction, heads/cam, stroker...)
