Default New strange electrical problem, doors

New problem. This morning I started out and lowered both windows as I went down the road. Then I went to raise both windows and the passenger one stopped half way up. Door lock to that door does not work either.

I am familiar with the passenger door issue as I replaced that door control module last year when the window stopped working. It has worked fine since then.

Now when the car is turned off instead of the sound of the solenoid unlocking the driver door "click-click" one time it gives three of those sounds "click-click, click-click, click-click." then stops.

It could be the conncetor to the door module has come loose I suppose. I checked the connector to the switch on that door and it is not off.

No input from the passenger panel does anything. No movement from the driver side to the passenger one either.

Could the driver module be going bad and leading to problems on the passenger one? Would the passenger one still work on it's own?

Could the passenger module not be giving the "locked" feedback to the driver module so it tries 3 times?

Seems strange that the window and lock are not operable at the same time if it is one of the relays going bad as is the case with one function or another going bad sometimes.

Is there a specific fuse to check?

Any ideas?

This will sound weird but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,give it a try. It has helped numerous people resolve a lot of weird C5 electrical issues.

Open BOTH doors. Find the rubber accordion tube between the doors, Grab the tube and feel for the TWO wiring harnesses inside the tube. Pinch the peires between your fingers and shake the wires real good. Then try to operate the door controls.

See if that will get you back on the road!

Default Bill Curlee is the man!

Well that worked. Opened both doors and worked the passenger side harness and the door works now!

Where is the connector for that? Is it in the door or is it in the car?

THANKS Bill

The connector is under the rubber accordian between the door and the car. The same thing you wiggled contains the connector and wires. The connector can be cleaned out by spraying computer duster compressed air into it and the tape around the wires can get worn at the point of entry to the door. I had mine apart last weekend, seperated the two wiring strands and retaped them both. I thought I fixed the issue but it came back again. The wiggling of the wires works every time though. One of these days...when I'm feeling ambitious, I will remove the entire door panel and try to identify the source of the issue.

Good luck!

The connectors are actually in the door frame pocket. You can pop BOTH ends of the accordion tube out and it will hang on the harness.

You will need to pull the wires and fish the connectors out of the door frame pocket. I recommend separating the connectors and cleaning the connectors with an electronic safe cleanser or alcohol. Examine each pin and look for corrosion and damage. I have since found out that the bare wire is actually a stereo shield and in its self shouldn't have anything to do with the issue. If t somehow grounds out something, it could effect the car.

Heres the connector up close:
