Thinking of picking one of these bad boys up, wondering if anyone is running one, specifically on a NA build.

Why, are you running a 1200 hp engine that has no pcv system or adequate venting of he crankcase?

Something like that

No, I'm just wondering if it would help oil consumption issues.

im doing or going to....get one. my LS3 416 jsut eats oil. I think it is blow by, but im still working bugs out. the PCV is all custom..

I have hooked it up 70000 different ways, and so far the best way has been...

i took the valley cover and modified the outlet tbe to be more open to release more air. I now use an external valve to a catch can. The smoking on accel and decel has greatly improved. a 800$ vac pump is the last resort. They also scare me becuase you need to run one around 17-19. To much vac and you can starve your bearings and smoke your crank

My 382 loves oil. Who built your 416? I read some more on that pump, its not designed for street use / daily driving.

I just talked to Greg, the gentleman that makes these pumps. He is warrantying them on GEN III and GEN IV motors! That was kind of a hang up for me, I wasn't about to drop $800 on a pump with no warranty.

I have one of Greg's setups on my SBC 406 in my '69 Nova. When I built that engine, I opened the rings up quite a bit for nitrous. It allows quite a bit of pressure into the crankcase, and I was blowing my oil dip stick when I made nitrous runs at the track. Now, with the vacuum pump I have zero oil leaks. I hope to get it on a dyno to quantify the power it is supposed to add. I have driven my Nova quite a bit on the street, and the vacuum pump is holding up just fine. I have considered one for my FRC also, but can't really justify it.
Here is a picture of my setup that Greg posted on his site (the first two pictures are my engine): http://www.gzmotorsports.com/sample-installations.html

I have been wanting a vac. pump on my car for a while. The problem is I dont have a mounting spot because of the supercharger. Jegs has an electric vac. pump kit on their site. Anyone tried this?

12 months. I wonder what he would charge for a pump rebuild? I only drive my car in the spring, summer and fall, and could easily pull it off come winter time and send it in for a freshening!

Racetronics makes a harness to turn your factory air pump into an engine evac pump. I know it is meant for boosted aplications due to running off a hobbs switch.

Interesting... I dont think the air pump would move enough to actually create vacuum though. I want a little vacuum to create better ring seal on my car. I might have to make a harness for my air pump though and try it.

I fabricated an auxillary vacuum system using an electric vacuum pump in my 77 Vette but not for crankcase evacuation but for running all the vacuum systems. The engine was a bit too radical (Lunati cam Brodix heads etc) and didn't develop enough vacuum to even lift 1 headlight. Worked great, no problems, just was fairly loud when I hit the switch to turn it on. Probably wouldn't last if you ran it full time. I only had to turn it on for short intervals.

i looked into this as well. I read it only creates 1-3 units of vac compaired to the 15-16 we should use

The kit I posted has an adjustable bleed valve, so you can set the amount of vacuum. If you can set it to the proper level I wouldn't worry about it starving the bearings.

It's too bad the header venturi vacuum option wouldn't be practical for us.

That would make a huge mess! I ran into a guy running one of these pumps on an old gto yesterday, and he had a pretty trick oiling system set up. I think I am going to try and duplicate it.

I have some pretty sweet plans that should work, based off the system that I saw yesterday. I need to relocate my battery, unless I can find a good spot for 2 reservoirs. One for an oil feed for the pump, and one to use as a catch can to put the condensed oil vapor. I could go further and make a recirculating system, but I want to try it with 2 tanks first. I need to find an economical way to move that battery. Summit has a kit that is about $80, I just want to make sure the box fits one of thise side wells in the back. I also need to know if I can ground to the frame with the battery's negative cable.
