Damaged G5x3 cam... has lobe damage

A couple of things can cause damage like this. Bad hardening and loss of valve train control. A cam is hardened after it's ground. A quick test is to take a file to an inconsequential area of the cam and lightly draw it across the surface. If it's properly hardened you shouldn't be able to mark the cam with the file. A good metallurgy lab can tell you the depth and quality of the hardening.
What valve springs are you running and how old are they? Was the valve train geometry and spring preload setup correctly? What pushrods are you running? What does the wheel on the lifter look like?

gents, sorry for the absence. I meant to reply to this last week and with my project coming to an end at the office, I managed to forget.
Anthony from LG has requested I send the cam to him and LG and Comp will inspect and report. I'm a little leary of the manufacturer and seller making the decision on whether or not I receive a new cam, but they're both reputable companies. At this point, it's packaged VERY carefully and will be sent to LG tomorrow or Tuesday.
Regardless, to answer WKMCD,
*I'm running Patriot heads with Patriot Golds (age unknown, but the motor shortblock has 10,000 miles on it (roughly, from memory by the seller).
*pushrods are Trickflow 7.400"
*all the lifters look identical. very little markings whatsoever. If I didn't keep them in order, you would have no idea what lifter corresponds to this lobe.
