My engine light came on. It is my skip shift solenoid. I bypassed that baby when I first bought the car. Will this cause me any problems if I do nothing about it? I dont see how it could, when it is disconnected, but I want to make sure!
I DID find the replacement procedure for it in my shop manual and it looks pretty basic, but I cannot find it anywhere!! Anyone know who would carry this part?
Did you check to see if the bypass is still attached and good? By good , I mean, is the resistor still reading correctly. I used a 2.2K ohm resistor in mine.
I had the same issue. I had installed the skip shift delete harness, and a few months later the check engine light came on. When I pulled the code, it a CAGS system error. I continued to drive it for several months with no problems (& no CAGS) until I had it tuned and the CAGS was tuned out...
You need to check the CAGS bypass. With a bypass and the resistor, the solenoid is NOT in the circuit and should not need replaced. The resistor shows the correct load so the computer thinks the solenoid is installed and working.
A check engine light is bad for 2 reasons:
1) It will mask any other problems.
2) IF you live in a state where they check emissions, your car will fail if the "check engine light" is on.

Did the 2.2KΩ resistor work ok? Reading the solenoid I got about 14Ω.
