Our club will be running a dyno day this coming spring. My car is a 2000 A4 with a 3.15 rear axle.
Is there anything special I should do as far as adjusting tire pressures or filling the gas tank only so far, etc.?
Also, are there any special techniques as I accelerate the car on the dyno? When do I go W.O.T.?
I sure would appreciate any advice.:yesnod: Thanks!
Ed

Usually the dyno tech is the one who "runs" the car on the dyno machine. Also be sure to have TC/AH turned off, and make sure the car is in 4th gear (i think the A4's 4th gear is the 1.00:1 gear) and make sure the dyno tech runs the car up to 6200 rmps......or to whatever the rev limiter has been changed to.

I believe it is 3rd gear that is 1:1 in the A4. 4th gear is 1:1 in the M6.
Take note of the oil and water temps before and after each run. Try to make each run as close a possible. This will help with consistency since temp. has a strong effect on power.
Run your normal tire pressure. Fuel level will not make a difference, but it may be a good idea to make note of the brand and octane rating of the fuel in the tank for future reference.

I've dyno'd 3 times and I've been behind the wheel each time, so shops differ on that.
here is the basic drill and what to expect:
When you get on the dyno the shop will tie down the car on each corner, they usually put a big fan in front of the car to give it just a little air.
On M6's you will run the car through the gears until you get to 4th. On the A4's (see above posts). you will hold the rpm's at about 2k and then the dyno due will give you the high sign.
At this point you put the hammer down and wait til the rpm's hit the fuel cut-off. When this happens immediately release the gas pedal.
Let the car coast to idle and then shift to neutral and gently apply the brakes.
Don't be alarmed by all the code the DIC will be throwing.
you 2nd pull will usually be better than the 1st.
On the print out pay attention to the correction factor. All the factors that make up the cf will be listed.
I've dyno'd twice when it was cold and it really affected the cf. I dyno'd at 80 degrees and the cf was 100.0 and again when it was 50 degrees intake but much colder outside and the cf was .95.
