Default 105 Octane Leaded Fuel

I have access to this fuel and I was wondering if there would be a problem with running this on certian occasions. I have eliminated the cats, but I was wondering if the leaded fuel would harm any thing else.

Not sure,,the cats are the main reason for unleaded. Not sure if the leaded gas might foul the O2 sensors. In theory leaded gas would slightly shortened spark plug life,,and lead to a little shorter life span for the oil.Since you have removed the cats,,only question would be the sensors.

It will for sure trash your O2 sensors. Not worth it unless you were looking to replace them or delete them altogether.

People that race here locally (Mo-Kan) state that they only put one gal of 105 to a full tank of gas and no more than once a few years.

Not quite KILL the engine, Lead will most likely foul up your injectors, foul up your plugs definably clog any cats you have.

throw off the O2 sensors if not foul them up too. which will tell your ecm to either shut the engine down or put into reduced power mode. Most likley shut the engine down.

The other thing about 110 leaded is that it is not too stable and might break down into its components, which IRC most of that is Benzine. We bit on the carcinogenic side

Plus the ECM is not tuned for 110 leaded.

You can find some 100 unleaded race fuel, and you can put that in and your engine will run. But to run 100 octane properly it also requires a retuning

I use 4:1 93:100 in the summer for hot hummed condition, and that needs a retuning as well.

Wait, so bad 02 sensors instruct the PCM to shut the engine down, and also cause REP mode?

Are there any DTC's displayed when the 02 sensor causes either to happen, and if so, could you please fill in the blanks here ? (use as many as needed).

You can run 100 octane unleaded. and your ecm WILL adapt some what. However, if you tune your car for 100 octane, it will run very well and get you quite a bit more HP and torque.

But at $5.75+ or so a gallon - unless your W2W or drag racing, is it really worth it?

Sunoco has some very good info on race fuels

I do not believe it will cause you any long term problems to run this fuel occasionally, however unless you are running a very high compression ratio with lots of advance, you will see little or no gain in power from it.
