My buddy has a 2003 C5 with the ABS/Traction Control code set. Mechanic pulled the code & said he had to replace the BPVM Relay. Is this a part available at the dealer? The mechanic said he could replace it if we got the part. I read a couple of threads that said the module had to be rebuilt to fix a relay, is this the one they were talking about? Thanks.
What DTC are you seeing??? The EBTCM has an internal relay that goes bad. If your seeing a 1214 dtc, thats the relay. You would have to send the EBTCM out to one of the repir people to get the relay up dated. Most charge $150.

Ur bud is lucky in having a later C5. Us earlier versions are stuck with buying a new module.
Mechanic pulled the codes and this is what he said to buy: Brake Pressure Monitoring Valve Relay (BPMV Relay). I just wanted to know if there was such an animal. We C4 guys don't have this sort of problem (but enough other ones to keep us busy).
Thanks for your reply and the info you posted. I was not in the loop with the mechanic, my best guess is he pulled the code that pointed to this relay & just assumed it was a plug n' play like most are.
We'll do a search & find a good rebuilder then send the module out to be fixed.
Guys like you are what make this forum such a great resource!

Like Bill said, remove it and send it ABSfixer to be rebuilt. Yes, you can drive your car in the meantime if you want, you just won't have any ABS brake function so just keep that in mind.
HTH
Oh btw, you do NOT have to remove any hydraulic brake lines from the BPMV unit in order to remove the EBCM from the car. Remove the Torx screws that attach the two units together and then remove the EBCM from the car.

NOTE!!!!! There are SIX torx bit screws that secure the EBTCM to the BPMV and you disconect TWO connectors
EBTCM is SEALED to the BPMV with a black gasket and sealer so it will be tough to seperate. Make sure that you use sealer during the reinstall.
