Hi Jackal,Welcome to the forum...:D

I know some of the members have heard this before, but for your benefit I will explain again...:D

The transgo Shift Kit is a wonderful mod for the A4.It will enhance the shift points and results will be crisp, sure and durable shifts..everytime!!.
In fact ,the transmission will supposedly last longer and provide better performance for the life of the transmission( according to Transgo) because the lightning quick shifts eliminate unnecessary wear on the bands and internal parts of the valve body where the kit is installed. You have to understand most applications for the shift kit are specifically for those of us C5 gearheads with aftermarket hi stall converters have to deal with loose and soft shifts due to the higher stall speeds of our converters. The stock converter is almost always locked and is a much better feel to the driver but lacks in the " transfer the power to ground " department. The stock converter may be a 1200-1400 stall speed so as you accelerate from a light or any stop for that matter the converter is engaged almost immediately and the transition is immediate. Not so with the aftermarket converters with 2400-3000-3500+ stall speeds. The converter creates a delay in the shift sometimes taking 200-300 rpms to engage. That's a nuisance and very annoying when the shift is supposed to be happening. Not to mention hitting the rev limiter when your at WOT...(Not Good)

Therefore.......The Transgo shift kit is a assortment of springs and valves and spacer washers that will modify the valve body of the transmission. This is where the actuator, solenoids and other components actually facilitate the shift.
By changing these components the shift quality is enhanced by design. You may choose a street setup..street/strip..or full race setup. There is a video that comes with the kit and is very informative and easy to understand .I will say that you really should have a competent transmission shop install this little gem of a mod. It's a tedious and a very careful job. Not for the inexperienced. :nono:

Do your homework and find a technician that has done this before or call Transgo for a referral tech in your area...they will help you.

Bottom line....The kit costs about $109.00 ..Install should be $160-$200 and the time for the job about 4-6 hours depending on the expertise of the installer. Do it! Thank me later:lol:

The results are A M A Z I N G !!!!It really is the best kept secret for the A4! :yesnod:

My current mods are the 3.42 gears, SY3500 TC, and the PL2. I'm still not happy with the shifts. Sometimes under WOT it really "slides" into gear. If I were to install the transgo shift kit, will I need to have my PL2 re-programmed? Or is it good "as is".

Finally, anybody in the San Diego area have this mod?

Thanks,

Brad
