'08 Z06 front shocks - nut issue

'08 Z06 front shocks - nut issue
This post is one part venting and one part questioning...
VENT: !$#%@^%@!#$@!%!!!!!!!!! I got the stock shock out of the passenger front of my '98 coupe only to discover that the nut that threads onto the shock shaft is not the same between the '98 shocks and the C6 Z06 shocks. What the heck?! I read every post I could find on this forum months before I ordered the '08 Z06 shocks. No one ever mentioned anything about needing different nuts. To make matters worse, I started threading the original nut onto the new shock and damaged the threads on the shock shaft.
Of course no dealership parts department is open today, and my local auto parts store didn't have any nuts that were self locking. The old shock went back into the car.
QUESTION: Did anyone else ever encounter this? The '08 Z06 shocks seem to need M10x1.50 nuts. I have no clue what size nuts are on the '98 shocks.
