AH = Cheap Insurance

Sure it is possible for a professional driver to beat the AH system.

SO for each driver you decide AH ON or AH OFF your choice. If you pile it up you will know your weren't the professional driver you thought you were.

AH is good Traction control sometimes I turn just it off.

I was driving to work on a state highway 5 AM dark raining behind pickup truck 1 tail light (you know the ones). The truck was doing 35 mph in a 55 with misty rain wet roads ditches on both sides of the road. I decided pass gently and really never got down on the car. Before I knew it the rear was fishtailing and beginning to slide, then in the blink of an eye the car boltered straight ahead and passed as if nothing had happened. I can tell you for a fact I didn't do it, the AH did so it saved my bacon at least once.

But for traction control There has been times at a light where I turned it off to prevent the power cut back (99) on take off. The newer models apply rear brakes 99 and earlier pull off power which I really don't like.

But for AH.. I NEVER turn it off.

In my '07, I was sporting myself over a major freeway ramp from one freeway to another. Saw a hole and lots of slow cars, so I gave it the gas....a lot. The car was nice and tight but I felt something giving and caught a glimpse of the DIC saying the AH turning on. Cool part was that I was in a turn at high speed. It did not straighten me out which would have been really bad, rather it simply kept me under control until the car straightened out from the turn normally. I was worried there for a couple of seconds.

Do you know why GM implemented CAGS? That simple little device helped avoid the huge gas guzzler tax on the Corvette. Its quite an impressive cheap solution to a very expensive problem.

CAGS is a non issue if you want to jump out fast, it only kicks in under very light driving conditions. There are several parameters that must be met for CAGS to kick in such as: only happens in 1st, rolling speed, throttle position, and engine temperature. If you are into the throttle regardless of speed, it doesn't kick in at all.

The list of CAGS parameters are here.

M6 C.A.G.S. (Computer Aided Gear Selection aka Skip Shift)
The parameters control the Computer Aided Gear Selection (CAGS or “Skip Shift”) feature of the VCM. It activates a solenoid in the transmission to force shifting to 4th gear under light throttle conditions. If disable TPS is exceeded then the solenoid will not activate.

Disable %TPS: Throttle Position to disable C.A.G.S. routine
Enable Speed: Speed to enable C.A.G.S. routine
Disable Speed: Speed to disable C.A.G.S. routine
Enable Baro: Baro to enable C.A.G.S. routine
Disable Baro: Baro to disable C.A.G.S. routine
Min Coolant Temp: Minimum Engine Coolant Temp required for C.A.G.S. routine

You do realize (?) that CAGS only operates between 2000 and 2500 RPM when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear ... so it is very EASY to get around by shifting before or after that narrow RPM range. I drove around it for years, and finally got a CAGS eliminator so I wouldn't always have to think about my 1st to 2nd gear changes.

It seems to be right where I shift to 2nd. It is just stupid regardless of the gas guzzler tax. Not sure why they say its a gas guzzler, it gets better mileage on the HWY than a lot of economy cars advertised on TV.
