Valve seal question
Thanks for the link to ls1howto... however, I've been using that site for reference for years (including the first time I did valve springs). If a mistake was made, it was probably out of fatigue, rather than not knowing how to do it.
I dipped the Patriot seals in oil... but decided to install the GM seals dry.@Darkhalf
It's hard to say. I was exhausted (no pun intended) when I installed the Patriot seals the first time. The GM seals are longer and had more rubber surface on the inside (or whatever material it is). The Patriot seals that were still seated were very difficult to remove. However, every one of the intake seals on the passenger side was lose. There were also a few loose on the driver's side.
To recap... I installed the springs/seals. Had smoke. Tore it all down and re-seated the seals. I'm 100000% confident all of them were fully seated the 2nd time and 90% they were seated the first time. It wasn't until I went in for the 3rd time did I use GM seals. So far... I'm happy with the GM seals.
