Default *Noob Here*C5 outer window seal replacement ?

You have a great forum and I know I'll spend a ton of time reading the
C5 tech forum.

Just picked up a low mileage Torch Red Coupe yesterday and the car is mint....except for the Florida sun has done a number on the outer window seals.

I did a search and didn't see information relating to my question of:

How do I replace the outer window seals?

I think I have the correct part numbers.

10447039 Corvette Outer Door Window Seal, Coupe, Left, 1997-2004
10447040 Corvette Coupe Door Window Seal, Right Outer, 1997-2004

Is there a step by step thread for the DIY or is this something I need to have a tech do?

Thanks for any replies.

I have to do the same to the 99 I just bought. Hopefully someone will post up who to do it.

BTW, nice C6 in the background! My father just took delivery of an 09 yellow vert with the tan top! Didn't think I would see another one around
His has the tan/black interior too. Very nice car

Here it is.
Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Outer
Removal Procedure

Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .

Remove the screw from the front of the sealing strip.
Slide the strip rearward.
Pull the sealing strip retainers from the holes in the door.
Installation Procedure

Align the sealing strip retainers to the slots in the door.
Push the retainers into the slots and slide the sealing strip forward seating the retainers.

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the screw in the forward hole. Tighten
Tighten the window outer sealing strip screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .

Is this referring to the whole inside of the door? or something else?

Where did these instructions come from?

It's the Inside Door Panel, and all of this is from the Service Manual.

Trim Panel Replacement - Door
Removal Procedure

Important
To reduce the chance of damage to the trim panel leave the switch in the panel until after the panel is removed from the door.

Lower the door window.
Remove the inside handle bezel. Refer to Handle Bezel Replacement - Inside .

Remove the pull handle plug.

Remove the screws behind the pull handle plug.

Notice
Insert the fastener removal tool between the male fastener, which is attached to the trim panel, and the female retainer, which is in the door. Incorrectly inserting the tool between the head of the female retainer and the door will break the fasteners.

For better sight access to the fasteners start by first prying out the fastener at the rear of the trim panel that is approximately 50 mm (2 in) up from the trim panel seam. Pry out the remaining trim panel fasteners working your way forward.
Lift the trim panel up off the upper retainers and reposition the panel by the door.

Remove the harness connector from the switch.
Remove the trim panel with absorber, switch, and speaker grill.
Remove any trim panel upper retainers that remained on the door.
Transfer parts as necessary.
Installation Procedure

Reinstall any loose upper retainers to the door trim panel.
Position the trim panel near the door and install the switch harness to the switch.

Install the trim panel to the top of the door engaging the upper retainers.
Align all the trim panel side and lower fasteners with the retainers in the door.

Press the trim panel firmly to the door at each fastener location.

Install the screws behind the pull handle. Tighten
Tighten the pull handle screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

Install the pull handle plug.

Install the bezel to the handle.
Position the bezel around the inside door handle.
Push firmly on the bezel to engage the locking tabs to the door.

FWIW, I just did one of mine recently (last week) and inside door panel removal is not an absolute necessity. It requires only a bit more patience, but is very do-able.
As with most things, removal is a bit easier than installation. Lower the window, remove the (one) screw at the front of the strip and move/slide/push the whole weatherstrip piece rearward approx. 1/2" - 3/4" and then remove. All of the plastic pins that retain the strip to the door, fit inside slotted holes on the door and that's why you have to slide the whole thing rearwards first, and THEN remove it. Reverse to install.
BTW, don't lose that screw at the front. It is unique due to it's threads, etc and screws directly into the plastic of the door itself. A "regular" self-tapping screw won't work, or very poorly at best.
