I have read most of the posts over the years regarding the relationship between the 1214 code and the failing/failed EBCMs.
For the past year I have been getting the 1214H code along with the ABS/Traction Control/Active Handling dash lights on average about every 8 - 15 times that I start the car. Does not seem to be getting any better or worse and this 2001 is my DD.
My question is, why does this only appear right after inserting the key and starting the car? I am sure it is maybe part of some kind of startup diagnostic that is failing the test and shutting down these systems? If so, why do these lights and code NEVER APPEAR AFTER STARTUP while driving? It is like, if the EBCM passes the initial test then it is good to go from then on until the car is turned off?
It just seems strange that if these systems are not fully functional or failing that you would see these warnings appear DURING driving sessions as well from time to time. So are the EBCM failures really just an initial diagnostic that is falsely being reported by the unit and shutting down perfectly operational systems?
Maybe your relay circuit is on the edge and occasionally does turn on correctly? If this is the case, it might be a sign of a connection or wiring issue rather than the EBCM itself.

Just curious.
It is part of the diagnostic-cheapo relay inside-absfixer.com fixes these.
Ugh, mine just puked the 1214 H C code today in the middle of a 60 minute drive. I cleared it, drove another hard 150 miles and it hasn't returned...yet. We shall see...
If the relay makes sufficient contact to provide a good enough voltage for the motor in the brake pressure modulator valve then it will provide that voltage until the power is turne off again and the relay opens. Some times the BPMV causes the relay to go bad due to drawing too much current and burning the relay contacts. When that happens you are in for a large repair bill since the BPMV has to be replaced as well as the EBCM. When the BPMV causes the failure putting a higher current capacity relay into the EBCM may fix the problem for a while but it will still fail again.
I got the intermittent 1214 for a little while and then finally it just went out. Doing more research now as I'm prob going to fix it soon. Have always been looking at absfixer for doing it, but now there looks to be some more competition and lower price.
