I brought my '00 vette to the dealer for the recall after my wheel locked while pulling out of my garage in May '05. The following June '06, it happened again, so I was told to bring it in again. It's been fine for all these years and now it happened again, except my fuel gets cut off. Dealer doesn't want to know anything "have it towed in and we'll take a look at it" (at a cost). I've read the FAQ's and am just a little confused. I want to remove the by pass relay, which appears to be in the passenger side footwell. I have looked and I see a purple "Y" section of wire that has a 2004 tag on it. I suspecct this is part of the bypass, but am not sure. Mine is an M6. It's a beautiful day in NY today and I really want to go for a ride. By the way, I pulled out fuse #23 and waited ( I did this a few times) but can't seem to keep the car running. Has anyone had the same situation (dealer installed and self removal?). Reading the faq's............can anyone be a little more specific in my case? Am I removing the bypass relay entirely? Is the relay plugged into something else or is it just sort of laying inside? Thanks, Nick
The Harness K relay is connected where the column lock actuator normally connects under the steering column.
That is the first thing I would check.
If your actuator still works, you might try removing the Harness K relay and reconnecting the actuator in the stock configuration.
That should solve the fuel shutoff problem.
Did the dealer remove the lockplate as part of the last recall? ie Does your column lock when the key is off?
