Got the low coolant level light 4 days ago. I let the car sit for a day and then started it up and let run for awhile. Notice a drip, maybe 12 -15 drips a minute coming from the front of engine. I am thinking water pump so I ordered a new one. The coolant level was low btw. My question is am I on the right track and is there anything else that should be done why I have the old pump off? Thanks in advance and any help would be appreciated.
When you drain your colling system, I would take your overflow/coolant tank out and clean the inside. The low loolant sensor is known to gum-up and give a false "low coolant level" light. The dealership said to use toilet bowl cleaner in the tank to clean the sensor. Be sure to rince very well before adding coolant. I changed my water pump and did not do this. Now I have to!
You ordered a water pump without even looking at what's leaking?
Not trying to be a dick, maybe you forgot more info in your post.
Its cool man, I did do a futher investigation under the car and it does appear to be coming from the water pump. But with a drip, who the heck knows. I look at it this way, at 80k miles it is about time for a water pump and if that is not the problem, I got some added insurance as far as the water pump goes.

I will def. do this. Thanks for the info, I do appreciate it.
Not directly related to the radiator but clean the outside of the radiator to get out all the dirt, sand, leaves, small children, etc that have gotton sucked up in there.
If you haven't changed the Serp. belt in a few years, now would be a good time. Check the radiator hoses to make sure they are not hard and cracked. Inspect the Balancer pulley to make sure it is in good shape and not backing out.
I did all this when I replace my thermostat last year. I didnt replace the belt as it was still relatively new. But I will def. inspect all related hoses and belts. And you are right, there was all kind stuff stuck up by the radiator. These daggone cars must act like vacuums. Thank for the info.
