Speedometer stopped working during a strong rain storm. Cruise also quit at the same time. Thought something got wet.
After weeks of not being driven in the rain, on purpose, and kept in the garage, I am still having problems with it.
When you start out, the needle doesn't move. After 1-3 miles it will start jumping and then start working. Bumps don't seem to effect it, i.e. make it start or stop working
.
When you stop and turn off the ignition you go through the same thing again except it usually only takes a few 100 feet for it to start working.
I checked and cleared the codes about a week ago.
All were resolved and best I remember none were of any conseqence.
I will check them again.
Everything else in the cluster still works as well as the traction control, active handling and competition mode. I have been using the tach to gauge my speed until the speedometer starts working.
It will be late before I can check the codes. Will post them up tomorrow.
I will try to jack it up tomorrow and see if the connector is loose.
Check the connector on the top of the differential...I think.. or its the transmission. That is where the speed sensor is. Its probably corroded or lose.

The VSS is on top of the diff .... ask me how I know
Anybody got a picture?
I can't find anything on top of the differential!
Jacked it up and felt around up there. Nothing I can feel and no wires except a harness coming over the top.
This is an automatic if that makes any difference.
It still is doing the same thing. Doesn't work until you go 3 or 4.
