As Fast as Z06
What are the differences in the Z06 engine and the 2004 (C5) engine?
What percentage of performance gain on the Z06 came from weight, exhaust and gearing, compared to the 2004 (C5)? In effect, if I take a 2004 (C5) and add; air flow, exhaust and gearing, will I gain comparable HP to a Z06?
define "airflow". adding just an cold air intake isn't going to do much if anything. adding a reasonably big cam, long tubes, cold air intake, etc.. would get you ahead of a stock Z06 easy

I have owned both a 99c5 and now an 02 Z06, The z will be much faster than the stock automatic c5.. An automatic C5 will run the 1/4 mile in 13.4-13.6 @ 105-106mph depending on a 3.15 or 2.73 gear ratio,, stock Z06 runs 12.4 @116mph.
In my book thats much faster.. The Z is also about 140 lbs lighter and has a unique close ratio M12 transmission.. A good rebuilt tranny with a stall converter, big camshaft, longtube headers, and a good tune will get you where you need to be.. The auto trans from the factory is weak and prone to overheating
