Default Need recommendation on trans cooler

I am interested in getting a new trans cooler to replace my stock one. My trans temp is running up to 215-228 F during hard driving and around 205 during normal driving.

I would like to get something that is somewhat larger than the stock one, but hopefully one that can be installed without much modification and hopefully not too big to really stick out visibly. Anyone have recommendations on which types / brands are good to use?

I run the B&M plate cooler in mine. Have it mounted in front of the ac condensor. I have never seen my temps about 190 ever. Most of the time in the 180 range.

I have the larger B&M cooler, with its own fan and thermostat, mounted inside the left front filter. I've had air passages setup for it to breathe. Make sure you take the cooler lines out of the radiator. That would keep it around 200 degrees all the time.

First, the installation was done by Joey Cartee, of Corvettes and Classics, in Greenville, SC. It is mounted beside my Alky pump. Mine has a 175 degree thermostat to control the fan.

Here is the custom mounting brackets:

This is one instance where bigger is not better. Buy one sized for the car. You want the oil and trans to come up to temp in cold weather. Later! Frank

Thanks for posting up the pics. I would probably mount mine up front since I want to put in alky tank from a C6 windshield in that spot.

I went with the B&M 24,000 from Summit. It came with the mounting hardware and a ton of stuff to hook it up. I run a fair amount of HP with a hi-stall and have no overheating problems. It is mounted up front in front of all the other stuff.

very interesting, thanks guys....
also, i have a yank 3500 stall, so I am sure that drives the temp up some. It has actually been installed for many years and I have not had a problem with it and never really paid attention to trans temp as I did not know what was normal. It was recently pointed out to me that I should try to keep it under 200 or so.
