Ive read all of the stickies, but Im still stuck.
I recently took my 2001 mn12 out of storage and the battery was weak, but the car ran fine. I charged the battery and Im now getting the column lock error msg. The car is dying after 1.5mph so Im assuming it has gotten the recall repair done. From what I have gathered, the only thing that the recall did on those cars was reprogram the pcm to shutoff the car. I also take it that after you get an error message you can no longer just buy the k harness or clb to fix the problem? what is my next step?
I already did the tender charged the battery, but i dont have a digital voltmeter to check the exact voltage. i used a load tester with an analog readout and it appeared to be at 12.6v unloaded, but obviously it was hard to read.
I had the same problem. Had all the recalls. The battery went low and the problems started. I tried everything and nothing worked. I finally took the PCM out and sent it out to Corvettes of Westchester to have the 1.5 MPH problem programmed out.
I tried the CLB and that didn't work, they sent me another and that didn't work. I pulled fuses, disconnected the battery, checked the grounds rotated the tires everything that could be done was done. The PCM reprogram worked, but I still get the messages which annoy me.
I find it amazing that letting your battery go low cause such a PIA.
I'm having the 1.5 mph fuel shut-off. Where can I get this "CLB"??
I have a 97, and the recall was performed. I've seen some info that the 97s just need a re-program. If it can be done with HP Tuner software, I know a shop that has it. I REALLY hope this helps.
Thanks!
Michael

Yes, the HP Tuners can do it, it's pretty easy - I used one for my car.
I bought the CLB and installed it. still got the error msg. So i then took out fuse 25 and 29 for bout 5 minutes, reinstalled and still got error msg. THEN, i found out i had the second relay by GM so i jumped the white 30 and orange 87 wire and Im STILL getting the error message. Im at a complete loss?!?!?! I left the relay unplugged after jumping the wires. thats correct?

I am no expert on this - but am an avid forum reader - I have seen 2 recent posts that may show some hope for you - one is a new service bulletin from chevy that "re-syncs" the steering column and the other is about a poor ground inside the drivers side kick panel. Sorry I don't have the links but you may be able to search and find..... hope its some help
