I live in CA and have to meet smog. I have LT's with high flow cats. Got my car smogged the other day. It passed but one of the numbers has me worried. The NO was just within limits. I'm worried that I will fail the next test. Anyone knowledgeable about smog want to explain what each reading means and what can be done with my car so I pass next time, especially for NO. Normal testing is every other year.
Thanks, I found your results when I used the search function before I asked the question. Now that I've read the yahoo link I think I'll check and clean my injectors. The car has been slightly harder to start lately so that might be the cause of my problem. If that doesn't work I guess I'll move on to O2 sensors.
This is especially worrysome when you look at my chart which shows the MAX numbers being reduced by the state. I just hope they are done with their "death" spiral.
A lot of C5 owners would like to know a smog tech who will overlook LTs.
Luckily I found one that was stupid. "Are those the original exhausts?" Yes, it's what came on the car. "Ok." Then he told me my Halltech Stinger would not pass visual. I had to go home put the stock air filter on then go back for the test. Of course I had to change it back again afterward too so it was kind of a pain in the butt.
I change out my Stinger intake every two years, but it does give me a good excuse to give it a thorough cleaning. By the way, I've had good luck with swapping the intakes two weeks prior to having the test done. The stock (or Z06, in my case) intake box won't flow as much as the Stinger Warhead, so it helps to allow the ecu to adjust. Toluene in the gas is said to lower HCs, but I haven't had to resort to that, yet.
