Default high temp

hello,
another cooling problem.my 2001 vette always seems to run at a temp reading between 216-220,and if i run a/c it goes to 230 before i turn a/c off then goes back to 218-220. my fans are running i do not no what thermostat it has. i no it has a cam. also it seems that my oil pressure at idle is lower. what would be normal oil pressure at idle and normal cooling temp. oh i almost forgot i live in florida 90+ temps
thanks

Temps are pretty normal. The LS1's are made to run hotter even though it kills horsepower. First, take off the radiator top support and check for debris around that area. Also check underneath in that area too. These cars are like vacuums and will suck anything and everything up.

After that is done, run the car up to temp and check your fans. Engage the A/C and make sure BOTH fans are running.

I would suggest getting a 160 t-stat if you are living in Florida. Flush the coolant out, replace the t-stat with the 160.

IMPORTANT!!! You must get the car tuned for the t-stat after it is installed to ensure the fans will come on at the right time.

Oil pressure should be at minimum 10psi per 1000 rpms. I would say at its hottest, it should sit between 20-30psi at idle.

As stated, all pretty normal. The minimum oil pressure needed is 6 psi, I wouldn't want to get too close to that though.

I would only clean the radiator and AC condenser fins with air or water, search and you should find good instructions on how to clean them. The high speed fans will not start up until around 235. Try turning on the AC earlier, the AC should make the fans turn on at a lower temp.

I found going too much below 200 made my vette run worse, I'd only go with a lower temp thermostat if you were doing a lot of engine modifications. Stock, just leave it and keep it clean, IMO anyway...

Besides checking for crap stuffed up into the front of the radiator, also check the most basic thing that most people overlook.....the coolant level
