OK, my bad. I forgot to latch the top on my wife’s 2003 convertible. The front section of the top blew open and back before I got out very far down the road; maybe 40 or 45 mph. I think it rotated up about 45 to 55 degrees.
I stopped and inspected it. I closed it back and latched it. I drove it home and retracted the top and re-deployed it and everything appears normal. Did I damage anything?
I doubt anything is broken. Inspect the top from the outside to make sure nothing bent. You may want to spray the areas where it meets the roof and windows with a hose to make sure it is still sealing correctly.
I headed out of town in mine a few weeks ago and as soon as I got up to freeway speeds I heard this somewhat loud buzzing/humming sound. Sounded like it was coming from my stereo speakers so I turned the stereo off and still heard it. Finally pulled down on top and the noise stopped so I pulled over to investigate.
I had only latched the drivers side latch. DOH!!!
