Default Do clutch slave cyliners leak?

I have a slow leak in my clutch fluid. I pulled the car apart to determine where it is coming from. The inside of the clutch access plate is wet with clutch fluid. The line attachment from the master to the slave appears to be dry. The bleed line appears to be dry. There is clutch fluid at the bottom of the slave cylinder where the spring is touching the slave cylinder housing. Has anyone had to replace their clutch slave cylinder because it leaks?
Thanks for your help.

Howard

Haven't had to do it on a C5 but have had to replace them due to leaks on other cars. There is no reason why a C5 slave wouldn't start to leak as well.

Yes and it stinks. Had a new C6Z for 15k miles, leaked and destroyed the disc, all the while changing the fluid every week pumping the HE!! out of it trying to keep clean fluid. Had the whole thing changed have 750 miles on it and guess what, I've had to change the fluid 5 times in 6weeks to be able to shift gears, not real happy at this point.

And in the worst possible location. Like the GD'ed slave.

The C4 slave could be easily replaced. The C5? Uh, no.

Yes they leak. Don't ask me how I know.

There is a very good thread on here about the slave cylinder that you should try to find. I think you'll find it very interesting.

Just found link.

Good luck with your replacement. You might consider adding a heat shield to the clutch fluid line while you have it disconnected....
