Default Clunk sound!

Hey Guys,

Quick question, recently I have notice that when the car is cold and I pull it out of park into Reverse or Drive, I get a clunk sound. I don't get it any other time. Just when its been sitting for a few hours and I go to drive it, I get that sound. Any other time it is fine. No vibration or other sounds while I am driving.

It sounds like it is right under the center dash but I can't be sure. I just know it sounds like it is coming from the front of the car.

The only think that has changed on my car recently is I had the drivers side axle seal replaced from where it was leaking.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks

Update!

Since I posted this is morning I have driven the car three times. Between each time the car sat for any where from 40 minutes to 2hrs. Each time I got in the car and put it into gear it would make the clunk sound. You could also feel it in the car.

Hope someone can help me nail this think down.

I'm new to Corvettes, but the symptom you describe is classic for a worn u-joint on driveshaft from transmission to differential in other RWD cars.

Check rear axel nut for proper torque?

Need limited slip differential additive?

U-joints OK?

I will check the axle nuts this weekend when I swap out the exhaust and then go from there.

Thanks Guys

Exhaust changing shape while its heating up/cooling down, could be related too. Consider that the pipes/cats are right there under the center console.
