The last couple of days I get one loud click on turning the key and no start. The only thing that seems to work is if I pull the large fuses in the engine compartment box and re-set them, then the engine starts. It's been real hot here in Texas (100+) but I can't think that's the problem. any suggestions? Stock 2000 A4 vert. Thanks.

Ignition switch is a common failure, and well documented by Bill Curlee in the electrical sticky. In any case, you the schematics and a DMM to verify.
1) Thanks, I will check the ignition switch.
2) "Check the starter"? Not sure what you mean; the starter that spins the flywheel or the ignition switch? The starter is working, i.e., after re-setting the fuses the car starts fine so mechanically the starter is ok.
I'm also going to do the chassis ground cleaning as described elsewhere just in case.
Is there any reason that re-setting the fuses would fix things each time? Is this action resetting a security module or computer setting?
Check the battery cables to the battery and to the starter. If you are hearing the starter click but not turning over, you've probably got a bad solenoid.
i have a 98 c5 and it wont start. when i open the door the light wont come on then when i try to start it it wont even turn over. if i just leave it in the acc on the key it will say all these alerts like low fuel, reduce engine speen, ect but if i dissconnect the batt and reconnect it it starts any ideas....

Yeah, start your own thread so the OP can get help on his.....
It sounds like the solenoid to me since the starter works after the power is removed and reconnected. It is probably hanging up electrically inside till the power is removed. I'd double check the battery connections first though, just to rule it out.
