My front bumper cover tore where that rubber air dam thing screws to the bottom. The outer most edge of the rubber air dam was swinging in the wind from the tear. I have been looking at it for two days since I noticed it thinking of a solution. It has been driving me nuts seeing it hang there.
It came to me while I was at the gym running on the treadmill. I had the center of the license plate filler left over from when I cut it out for the air screen thing. I made a template from my left over Corona box, traced it on the left over plastic, cut it out, epoxyed it where the hole tore though, drilled a hole in the new piece, slid the little clip back over it and I'm back in business. I was just going to drill a new hole, but because of the way it tore, there wasn't enough left.
Sure you are not alone. I lost part of the plastic as well. I was also going to try the epoxy a sheet of plastic as well.
Been concidering getting one of the hard splitters as as well. I am not a big fan of these air dams. Mine seem to sag a little between the mounting points where you can see little gaps between them and the cover especially from the side.
Heres the ACI one --- They mention that they still have the plastic dams fitted behind it but I think I would remove my sides and just keep the center section for the radiator.

I used to have an ACI splitter on my car, but after a couple of months of hitting it on curbs and hearing it drag on everything, I traded it for a set of Z06 TI catbacks. My car was not lowered either. It looked sorta cool, but cool wasn't cuttin' it for me anymore! BTW, the ACI instructions state to leave the center air dam in place, but remove the two outer dams.......although I've seen some guys leave them all on. Looked alittle dorky!!
I also have the reinforcement pieces bolted to my outer dams and have never had a facia problem. The dams are made to be flexible and wear away. Anyway, that's my story...and I'm stickin' to it!!
