i was out to get dinner last nite and all of a sudden my car was smelling and starting to smoke under the hood. i pulled over asap and got a tow home. i am not sure if it is antifreeze or trans fluid but i have a leak and i mean a BAD leak right under my surge tank.i am not sure if a tranny line goes under the tank or not or if its antifreeze lines only but it sure smells like trans fuild.i believe the coolant fluid is also red so it isnt making this process easier to figure out. any help would be great to get me back up and running!
Sound like you rubbed a hole in a tranny line or it came loose at the radiator and is spraying back to the surge tank area. Check the tranny line fittings at the radiator.
i think its the surge tank. i just looked at it again and the tube that goes from the bottom of the tank to the hose seems to be spraying liquid everywhere! is that a common thing to happen on surge tanks that they leak from that plastic tube that comes from the bottom of the tank? it looks like its a 2 piece tubing and its seperating or something

I don't know I would call it common, like it happens a lot, but it does happen. I've seen one over the past 5 years that has done this. Other then the mess and the pain to replace the surge tank it normally doesn't hurt anything. Better then having a trans issue in my humble opinion.
i hear ya and believe me i am hoping its nothing wrong with my tranny and it seems certain that its the surge tank coupler or whatever its called below the tank that connects to the lines that have seperated. if thats the case at leeast changing out a surge tank should be a breeze
