If your car is an A4, then by dfault the answer is NO, the 12MM propeller shaft will not fit. For my car, I got a new custom propeller shaft with 12MM bolt holes in the end. I also got a solid bushing for the rear for 12MM, and a rubber one up front. My input and output shafts had to be drilled out and tapped to 12MM as well. Overall, mine is a lot stronger, but it was not a cheap upgrade.

You can buy a later 2001 - up automatic torque tube that will be stronger than the pre 2001 models but they still have 10mm bolt holes.
The 2001 and later torque tubes have a thicker aluminum inner drive shaft.
