Default Which car is faster?

I have a 99 FRC 6spd. Pretty much stock except a Vortex cold air intake. A buddy i work with has a 2000 Audi S4 2.7 twin turbo 6spd, AWD. From what I hear my car should run low 13's, he claims his runs 12.8. Is his car actually quicker? I didn't line up next to him yet but mine does seem quicker when driving it.

He would be very lucky to even get into the 13's in that car, if it's stock. He's probably in the low 14 second range for the 1/4 in a stock S4 in that generation...

This will give you an idea of what stock/bolt on C5's are actually running. Now the question really is, how well can you drive?

He will probably get you off the line(AWD), but you should be able to reel him in.

Your car has the potential to dip into the 12s. As a reference point my friend with CAI, ls6 intake, and exhaust went 11.9s in a 99 FRC on slicks, low 12s on drag radials.

He will kill you off the line with the AWD. you will have to reel him in up top. Depending on what type of person he is - he may call off the race just as you are catching up.

My stock FRC with blackwing ran 12.6 @110 on DR's.... and i cannot drive :p Want to say i ran 12.9's on street tires.

I wouldnt under estimate his car though, they can be very quick.

Why does everybody say AWD will kill him off the line? How good of a 60' do you think this Audi is going to get?

The newer S4 has the V8. This one is 2.7 twin turbo.

The S4 is a lot heavier than the Corvette. I doubt he increasee the hp by more than 60hp with chip tuning. The race won't even be close.

I've driven a stock 2.7 S4. Didn't feel that fast (still fast, mind you, but not nearly the power of the C5). But if those turbos are turned up...

He won't kill you off the line either. He may be very slightly ahead of you for a very short period of time, and in order to do that he really needs to beat on his system, which he may or may not know how to do or be willing to do...

Being also an Audi owner I know a little about this. The Audi turbo systems do not need a lot of work to make considerably more horsepower. A different waste gate and some computer tuning is good for alot of power. However, Audis would need lots of power to equal the Vette's acceleration because typically they are not geared for acceleration off the line, more so for autobahn cruising. You also have to factor in the turbo lag.

for what its worth, my wife drives a 2007 G6 GTP(3.6vvt) that is near 260hp stock, only mods are a hacked airbox with K&N
and i have a buddy at work who has a 2000 2.7t A6 awd
and i can smoke him all way long

in stock form he is at 250hp,
chips in the audi/vw cars make conciderable amt more HP

http://www.giacusa.com/programs.php?mpid=12

GIAC performance software for the 2004 - 2000 A6 ® 2.7 T smoothly delivers a 70-80 hp and ~85 ft-lbs gain.

he is roughly at 3,759 lbs per cars.com
