I just purchased a set of c6 wheels and tires to put on my c5. So, I asked on here last week if the c6 tpms would work with my car. I got an I do not know and a no they will not answer. Well I investigated this further and could not find an answer after tons of reading. Yesterday I decided to call the local dealership and ask if the sensors would work. They did not have the answer but said they would research it and get back to me. Six hours later they called back and said yes we can make it work as the technology in the sensors is basically the same even though they are programmed (reset) by a different means. So I bolted up the new wheels and was going to go to the dealership tomorrow to get them programmed. Got in the car expecting a code from the tpms but had none. Checked the DIC and the car recognized the c6 sensors and read the correct tire pressures.
So just to let everyone know yes C6 TPMS sensors will work on a C5.
Are you sure that there really reading the correct pressures and the RFA is actually reading the C6 sensors and are they reporting on the correct wheel?
The C6 sensors do NOT use a magnet to learn. They use a programmer module that is designed to interface the sensors. Kent Moore make one as do other companies.
I find it hard to understand how a C5 could recognize C6 sensors not programed for the car when even a C6 won't do that.
I guess the next time I park next to a C6 I'll check it's tire pressures
He'll figure it out. After a few minutes driving time, if he's still getting tire pressures displayed, it just means he's parking his car close to where he's storing the old wheels he took of the car.
Drove the car about 70 miles yesterday and got the service tpms message. Took the car to the dealership that said the sensors were compatible even though they are programmed bye a mini computer and not a magnet like the old ones. The tech spent an hour and a half and could not get them to work, He said his machine could not even detect the presence of any sensors in the wheels. I told him I am fairly sure they are there, and he said if they are then they are bad because they should at least be detectable by his equipment. I am going to have the wheels broken down in a couple of days and just swap the old sensors back in and see if there are sensors in the c6 wheels. So I am saying at this point I was wrong the sensors are not compatible and I apologize for giving anyone incorrect information. FLAME ON

NO APOLOGY NEEDED. The best part of this is you came back and let us konw the outcome. If the TECH you were dealing with loged into this forum and read enough to figure out what he is doing, he could have told you the facts in 2 minutes, instead of 1 1/2 hours.
Also, you can look at the valvestems and tell if you have TPMS.

Your experience with the C6 sensors is similar to what I observed. If I swap my C6 wheels for my C5 wheels, and leave the C5 wheels stacked in front of the parked car, I do not get the warning message for sometime after driving the car. However, if I drive the car for an extended period of time, the warning message will appear. This was a big surprise to me also.

I can't give the tech to much grief, he spent a lot of time researching it to see if it would work before I got there. He truly believed it would work according to the info he gathered. I have to give him credit for at least taking the time to put in the effort even though it was fruitless.
