Default Installing Longtube Headers (no cats)...

can I just completely remove the secondary AIR system. It seems it will just be there to get in the way. I also have a Diablosport, but am new to tuning. I'm not certain of the capability of the Diablosrort.

You can, but will get codes unless you tune them out.

Does "tuning out the codes" mean that the computer thinks the car is operating correctly and no longer setting the errors or that the computer sees the incorrect operation and you just don't see the codes register? In other words, if you tune out the codes, is the car still operating efficiently?

Yes, that's what it means. You are reprogramming some of the parameters to trick the computer into thinking the AIR system is working. Also means you'll have to "tune out" your rear O2's as well, but with most LT systems, that's a given. I don't think your Predator has that option, but I haven't played with them in some years. I know most current tuning software suites have that capability (HP Tuners, LS2Edit).

Why hack the car like this? What do you gain? A Few HP MAYBE If your build a track only car maybe, be a street car-WHY? Do you even know what the rear O2's do or the AIR system?

Theres always a greenpeace rep everytime these topics pop up. He said he is not going to run cats so in his case they dont do crap other than clutter up the engine bay. It is a reasonable tech question about removing the air system. He was not asking for philisophical opinons about mother earth. If you want to debate cats/no cats go to the general section.

You can remove the AIR system with or without cats, no matter.

A few related codes to tune out...removes about 10# from the front of the car, no more exhaust popping on decel, and makes future spark plug changes really easy.

The worst aspect of completely removing it is removing the manifold to get at that the bolt that secures the right AIR tube to the rear of the head.

Chit my car with LTs, High flow cats on 100 octane runs cleaner then most fricken hybrids. yes we tested several at a friends emissions station

I wonder if these greeny - beeny types know what it takes to recycle hybrid batteries?

If they did, they would even complain about OPEN exhausts.

I am PROUD OF MY LARGE CARBON FOOT PRINT.
