Just got my '03 coupe on the road after six months of repairs and inspections. Very nice car. Automatic. Needs a lower rear gear. Has a 2:73,I bought a Z06 complete rear with 3:42 ratio that I think will help a lot. Also, the trans shifts are vague. It's not burnt or failing because it will shift firmly if you are on it. My question is, does anybody have a preference on tuners? The Diablo or hyper tech? Or one I haven't discovered yet? They cost a good chunk, so I would like to make the right choice first time.[something I seem to rarely do.] Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and happy motoring!

The diablo and hyper tech are overhyped junk IMO. Spend a little more and get a real tuner like the post before me suggested. It'll be the last one you EVER have to buy

I use EFI Live. Its like HP Tuners . Yep, those hand held units are very limited in what they can do. The HP Tuners and EFI Live are complete tuning packages with 100% access to all tunable parmeters.

While EFILive and HPTuners are certainly the top of the list as far as tuning tools for our cars, are they somewhat overkill for the guy that just has a bolt on car and wants to adjust some parameters? Especially a manual trans car?
The average backyard mechanic will never use or understand all that can be done with systems like these.
I also have the Predator tuner and it worked great for me and my mild mods on my 2001 with auto tranny. It really woke up the tranny and you can adjust some stuff yourself. I think the HP and EFI are really great but they are really $$ and they have a steep leaning curve esp. for the average Corvette owner that only wants to use it once and forget about it.
Look in the CF for sale section for a used tuner. I purchased mine on sale otherwise I would have purchased a used one.
And IMO the Predator is the best. I read an article in GM Tech magazine last fall and it was rated #1 out of like 6 hand held tuners. The test car was a Camaro with LS1 and it dynoed +15 HP plus they liked everything else it did compared to the others.
