i'm curious if that is the same between t56 and a4.
thanks

For 2002 model year it shows different part numbers.

M6 88894025 $818.18
A4 88894016 $1156.62

NM. ^^^^ There's your answer

Those are part numbers for the "propeller shaft"

The propeller shaft, which is the inner shaft, is different lengths; also, the manual version has 12MM bolts to hold the input and output shafts in place and the automatic version uses 10MM bolts.

^ That's an early style torque tube for a manual tranny. Not sure what year your car is but the 2001 and up torque tubes are much stronger.

The first pic, the 12551711 number is the part number. I think its the older style manual torque tube, because it was superseded by 12564457. Yes, it will fit. But, is the older style with the smaller coupler bolt. Which should not be an issue unless you drag race a lot. I'd give it a good once over to make sure the couplers and bearing are good.

The coupler bolt size is tied to driveshaft size. The 10mm coupler bolts were used on the 55mm diameter driveshafts (the early versions) and the 12mm coupler bolts were used on the 63mm diameter drive shafts (the later 2001+ versions). The bolt-on bell housing is another clue as to being the early version. The later version is welded on.

Either find a torque assembly for an A4 or a driveshaft for an A4, whichever is best for you. They are different from the MM6s.

i'm good. mine is m6 so that TT looks like it'll work for me. I just really want the internal propeller shaft (driveshaft) because mine lost a weight.

Why not take it to a driveshaft shop and have them re-balance it ?

all the places around here say they can't balance it. needs a special adapter (like bmw's) that they don't have. and for the price i'm getting it, its less than balancing my existing DS.

Just go here and buy yourself a new driveshaft, like I did:
http://www.driveshaftshop.com/pdetail.php?pid=486

I had them modify it for me with 12MM bolt holes.
