it's a Spec clutch, not Star. Spec is the brand, "star" refers to the shape of the fingers.
I got mine from Doug Rippie Motorsports, who besides being very price competitive, stands behind what they sell.
unless you are going to *seriously* upgrade your power level, I see no reason to install a Spec clutch. there is quite a trade off for a daily driven car with one of these. it does not feel close to stock when launching from a halt. as opposed to other high performance clutches that are conventional in design.
before I moved up the power level ladder, I had a CenterForce dual friction clutch, which was way better than the stock unit, yet retained complete daily driverability..
just something to consider.
I've got the Star Stage III (or Spec if you prefer).
The first hundred miles it felt way better, but completely different than stock. It is actually easier to engage IMO. Could be shorter pedal travel
for activation or that my stocker was junk for so long that I just got used to it.
Long story short..I like it thus far.
144 miles to finish my breakin and then its off to the track!
I have the kevlar. I only have about 400 miles on it and it is still chattering and makes a grinding noise the first few times you take off if you let the car sit for a week. It does grab though. I heard someone on hear that said to use the stock pressure plate and the kevlar disk for better results.
He He. Scott, you win the prize for having the worst stock clutch I have seen to this day!!! :) :)
The only 6-speed car I have driven that acts like it had a 4400 RPM stall converter in it!!!
Hopefully you will be very happy with the clutch once it is broken in. If you have any problems, let me know.

Yep!
You know I need to take some pics of that thing and post 'em.
I have no idea how I made it home from the track that day!
I have the carbon and it didn't/doesn't really chatter that much.
Just the first hundred miles or so.
I don't think the kevlar would hold up considering the way I launch among other things. ;)
