Can CAGS be tuned off?

Can CAGS be tuned off?

Looking into doing a manual transmission swap on my '01 (don't preach to me about cost and everything, please), and I'm starting to buy the parts for the swap. Already have the major bits, but something occurred to me... CAGS. After the swap when I take the car to be tuned for the new setup, can CAGS be removed from the system by the tuner, or will I still need a CAGS defeater in the wiring regardless?

Yep.

Although it may already be disabled (deactivated) in your particular car since it came with an A4 originally. Not positive on that point though.

It's even easier than that. When you're doing swap over just don't hook up the CAGS wires to the PCM.

That's how I did it.

My tuner disabled cags but used the cags light as a shift light...6600 rpms...

I've got the different harness and control unit for the MN6, so I wasn't sure if it was something that was part of that unit or not.
