Default Stroker kit recommendations

As some of you know, I have been toying with the concept of going FI on the car...but all the research I did suggested that even though stock bottem ends on an LS1 "can" handle 500-550rwhp, the bottom end becomes the weak link. Read enough stories on here of engines breaking after an FI system was installed (Ya, I know many of you have had them installed and have had no issues, so lets not make this a debate for the purposes of this thread)

So, I've decided that before I go FI (haven't fully decided on turbo or S/C), I want the bottom end of the motor to be bullet proof (or at least a heck of a lot stronger than it is now). SInce I'd been re-dong the bottom end, decided I'd stroke it at the same time (get your minds out of the gutter)

If you search the web or that common auction site, there are 100's of 383 stroker kits. So the question becomes....which one to get?

Just wondering what kits some of you guys have used and also any suggestions

Thanks guys

Mo

I wouldn't waste my money on a 383. For a few extra $$$'s you can get a 402 or larger. I have a 383 in my car, and I regret not spending the extra couple hundred bucks.

I'd just go for the whole short block. You can't just bore the block out like the old days. I like the prices at TSP.

Thanks for the referrals guys! Give us a shout and we can get you setup with a stroker that will make the power you're wanting without breaking the bank! We've got a pretty nice assortment of 402, 408, 418, and 427's on the shelf ready to go also, so we might be able to get you taken care of without the huge wait times too

402 = new heads = new intake = new throttle body. A nice forged 347 with ported 243 heads might get the job done for you. If you're going to boost it anyway, who cares about cubes?
